Topic "Printing Checks remoting using an IP Printer" a message from Nancy

Sherry, signal strength refers to how well the bank can optically ready the MICR line at the bottom of the check. There are three elements to determining signal strength: 1. How well the toner ink adhears to the check paper; 2. The printer settings of your destination printer; 3. PrintBoss settings.

To adjust setting in PrintBoss open PrintBoss to the Master Application screen (run PB32.exe). Go to Edit, then Form Files and choose your check form. Choose the right bank account at the botton of popup. Now click on View. Double click on the MICR line at the bottom of the check form. When you do that, MICR Command Properties Box displays. On the right hand side of that box is a Boldness setting. You can use the drop down arrow to navigate the settings from Default to Boldest. Adjusting this setting will increase the MICR graphic PrintBoss places on the check while staying within the required ABA guidelines.

Hi - recently we have the need to send checks from printboss to print to a remote location using an IP printer port connection. The destination printer is a HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL. They looked great so we sent a batch to the bank for testing . The bank (wells fargo) failed them because of poor signal strenghth on the micr line and suggested our toner was old. We don't think so but of course are retrying with a new micr toner cartridge.

Is there any known issues with printing from printboss over an IP printer connection, especially in regards to "signal strenghth"

Many thanks, Sherry

I have some questions about a quick down and dirty idea to get our existing packing slips up and running. We were buying preprinted 3 color NCR packing slips. We were basically just using a blank form in printboss and having printboss print out the 3 pages we use.

We want to get away from the preprinted ncr paper and just use plain NCR and use printboss to print the form we use. I need to get up to speed on learning to use the form designer to do this. In the mean time we are getting low on our preprinted stock.

I was wondering if it is feasable to create a form and have a full page image placed on it that has all our lines, boxes etc. We have our forms in illustrator and I already have a PCX, 300dpi, monochrome full page image ready to try this out. The file is about 1mb.

1. So is this even possible, will printboss print the data and the form background together?
2. If it works, is a 1mb file too large, and will the printing from accpac be too slow?
3. We are on version 5.11, the manual I have says the only formats are PCX and BMP (and sig), but looking online I see JPG is an option, is this something that came in an later version or will our version support jpg too?

I just have a question on reversed cheques. The client is using Sage Accpac ERP Accounts Payable Version 5.5 to print the cheques. There will be situations where the client will answer "NO" to the Accpac prompt "Did the cheques printed correctly?" (after the cheque has been printed in PrintBoss) and will reprint the cheques. Accpac will void the first cheque. However PrintBoss will not be aware that the first cheque was voided. Thus when they reprint the cheques for the positive pay, both cheques will be included in the import file (even the voided cheque). How would you suggest we deal with that problem?

Heya Folks,

I am supporting this product for a client. I have no real experience using PrintBoss. The version is PrintBoss 5. The issue is this:

We just upgraded the users Quickbooks to version 2010. When we print checks to the 'prinboss nt40 on NULL" printer, the 'state and zip code' line of the address is not in the correct place. The form used is QB_Chk4. The actual check is at the bottom of the form. Everything prints OK except the cty/state/zipcode line of the address. This ends up at the top of the form, meaning the top of the page, i.e. not even on the check itself. The other address lines (company name/street address) are located correctly.

I have printed some examples and it is wierd. The sample prints fine, it just has an old address. The production print has the correct address, but it prints it wrong (city/state/zipcode in the wrong place). I do not know the product well enough to fix this quickly and efficiently so I am here asking for assistance.

Thank You in advance!

Brian Carroll

Edited to provide correct PrintBoss version info
edited by bcarroll on 7/21/2010

Topic "Windows7 - error: No Flag in Document" a message from Nancy

Recently we have seen the PrintBoss error "no flag in document" pops up when printing a custom .rpt from Accpac on a Windows7 workstation even when there is a PrintBoss trigger (flag) on the preview of the Crystal Report. This seems to occur sometimes when the PrintBoss trigger line is simply a text object rather than a full, formula based trigger.

To fix this, first make sure you have the most current PrintBoss 50 driver installed (PB50ui.dll: 2/24/2010). Next, if the PrintBoss trigger in the Accpac report is simply a text object, you will need to create a standard formula based trigger. Using a standard PrintBoss .rpt you can copy the formula elements to your custom report.
Also, be sure that PB50 driver is set as the printer for the Crystal report. REMINDER: with Windows7 use Alt-P to get to the printer setup screen in the Crystal report.
edited by Nancy on 6/17/2010
