When new hardware is installed it is always best to update PrintBoss. It is easiest to update PrintBoss on the old server first and then copy the entire folder over to the new server. If you will be testing from the server, and need to have the PrintBoss driver installed, log in as administrator and run setup.exe as a Workstation/Printer Driver install type. If the operating system is Windows 7 or Windows 8, be sure to right-click on setup and choose the option to 'Run as Administrator.' Next, go to each user workstation and navigate to the PrintBoss folder on the new server, run setup.exe again as a Workstation install for this user. This action will appropriately change the Registry settings.

Now, what is the best way to move Printboss from one server to another?

I should add, all the archives, forms, etc. are on the first server and need to be on the second server, with data intact.

As long as you can see the Company Name and Serial Number, PrintBoss is activated. You should be all set.

I got a new computer so I used my CD to install PrintBoss. I went through the activation and it said that serial no. had already been activated. Then I thought about the bank setup files, etc. so I went back and copied the bank files, the license file and all the subdirectories from the the old computer onto the new computer. When I launch PrintBoss 5 it now has my company name and serial number. Does that mean it's now activated, or do I still need to activate it?

First question to ask is was computer #1 a stand-alone installation of PrintBoss? Or is PrintBoss on a networked server?

If PrintBoss is on a server, instead of reinstalling the program, log in as an administrator on the new workstation, navigate to the PrintBoss folder on the server. Run the PrintBoss setup program, choosing the 'Workstation/printer driver…' option on the first screen. Run the program through taking the defaults to finish then load the PrintBoss printer driver on finish. This will add the PrintBoss printer to the users Microsoft Windows printer list.

If computer #1 was a stand-alone install of the PrintBoss, your best course of action is to copy the entire PrintBoss folder from the old computer to the a new PrintBoss folder on computer #2 and then run the PrintBoss setup program as above. If you cannot do this, your users will have to re-key all banking information and re-create any changes to their PrintBoss forms.

We need to install PrintBoss on another computer. The previous computer it was on will no longer be printing checks. When installing on the new PC it asks for a Reg. Code. What should we put in as a registration code?
