Yes, you can set the PrintBoss printer to be a PDF printer. There are also ways to have PrintBoss print checks to one printer (or tray) and the ‘direct-deposit’ statements to another printer (or tray) and create a PDF copy of all of them in one step. If you are interested in pursuing a discussion about different options, please feel free to call technical support for ideas.

Subject: print to pdf
Good morning, I am a very satisfied customer and have been for many years.
We recently started processing our company payroll as direct-deposit only. I, therefore, no longer need to print the whole check run on check stock. In fact, I don’t even need to print the whole payroll, I only need to print the facsimilies for the hourly employees. My question is: Can I direct the output from printboss to a pdf printer? (by selecting a pdf printer instead of a laser printer in print boss)
We still use print boss for our other payroll checks as well as all of our accounts payable checks.
