Shirley – My experience has been that Outlook just warns that the file size is too large. Splitting the attachments is a manual process.

PDF Font rendering issues

I tested the dot using Webdings with the '=' key and it worked. Three separate Text Objects need to be used by PrintBoss for the string since the font is changed. They are:

#Text 0.350, 8.300, 'Arial/10', ÷Post Office Box 1027÷
#Text {LastLineXEnd+.05}, 8.28, 'Webdings/10', ÷=÷
#Text {LastLineXEnd+.05}, 8.300, 'Arial/10', ÷Asheboro, NC 247204÷

Of course, your inches from left and top will be different. I used LastLineEnd to line up the text with the end or the previous line. The result is the printed page looks the same as the email attachment.

Greg - Please verify you are using PrintBoss version 5.70.0 or later with Windows 7. Versions prior to 5.70 may not be fully compatible with Windows 7. Otherwise, we have no reported issues regarding saving printers in PrintBoss on Windows 7 or Server 2008.

Hand Check Number Problems

Thank you for your post. We take customer satisfaction and criticism very seriously. We are aware of the issue you are referring to and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible. The check number variable used for QuickBooks checks is different as QuickBooks sets itself apart from other accounting packages by not passing the check number with check data. We are reviewing the code related to the variable used with QuickBooks and we expect to resolve this issue quickly.

Unfortunately, testing for this issue did not detect the problems that you are having because there are several ways to set up a form file and to print hand checks and we missed this combination. We understand that bugs sometimes slip through the cracks and we work hard to resolve them in a timely matter. Customers have unique requirements and we work to design PrintBoss to enable those individual customer needs. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Thank you again for your comments. Customer engagement is extremely important to us and we appreciate any and all opportunities to work with customers and resolve their questions and issues. - written by Stu Neale.

Data offsets are often caused by incompatible printer drivers or check stock that is equal thirds instead of a 4" top, 3.5" advice, and a 3.5 check.

If the entire page needs to be adjusted, a text offset field is available on the Settings tab of the PrintBoss form. Use this with caution. If the issue is the printer driver, the results may be different when printing to a different printer.

If just the check elements need to be adjusted, these can be moved in the PrintBoss work file. There are 2 exceptions: 1) The Payee Address block is passed from the crystal report with no adjustments; 2) The MICR is only adjusted through the MICR Adjust Wizard under Options / Configuration in the PrintBoss Master Application. The MICR Adjust Wizard is machine and printer specific.

Hand Check Number Problems

We recently discovered this issue only occurs when the HandCheck Output is set to a Work File. When the Output is set to Printer, the MICR increments correctly.

This will be fully fixed in the next release of PrintBoss, version 5.73.6.

It will work if Outlook is configured to use Google Apps and you are using PrintBoss Enterprise.

PrintBoss only indicates whether it handed off the file to the email client or not. This is indicated by a capital E in the Printed column of the Work File. A small e indicates the file failed in PrintBoss and a capital S indicates it was intentionally skipped. The letter corresponds to the copy, so if the client is processing 3 copies, be sure to check the value for the correct copy.
The email PDF attachment is created at the location specified on the Misc. Settings tab of the E-mail Settings dialog. This is typically {PDIR}\Email. If the user does not have sufficient rights to the PBDIR Email folder and its subfolders, the PDF cannot be created and no error is generated. If they are not successful changing permissions, the alternative is to change this location to the {ComAppData} location where the Spool and Transfer files are created. For example, the location for Vista and above is:
C:\ProgramData\Wellspring\PrintBoss\Email.
Hope this helps!

Unable to Save

Sky – All PrintBoss users need Full Control of the PrintBoss folder. Some of the setting PrintBoss uses are saved in the registry and others are saved in the PBDrv.ini file. The logical cause of the error is insufficient permissions.

Record Sequence/Counter

Tom - PrintBoss has a variable called PosPayLineCount, found on page 218 of the PrintBoss manual. This counter will increment with each line of the file. Add this counter as the first entry in the Header, Details, and Footer tabs of the Positive Pay file.
In order to pad the counter to a specific number of characters, enclose the {PosPayLineCount} in a Pad function. The Pad function is on page 84 of the PrintBoss Manual and includes examples.
This feature was added in PrintBoss version 5.71.3, so it is available in your current version.

We are not aware of a 3rd party SSL. The only thing we can offer is it will be included in the next major release of PrintBoss scheduled for later this year.

Check Number

PrintBoss has the ability to add a check number from the PrintBoss Bank Record. The user is prompted to verify the starting number at the beginning of each batch and PrintBoss will increment the check number for every document in the batch. The Check Number Format from the MICR tab of the PrintBoss Bank Record needs to be changed to {BChkNo} and the variable in the PrintBoss Form used to print the check number needs to be changed to match. We recommend you call support to ensure this is setup properly as it is not common to use this method with Sage HRMS.

Sage 300 Forms and trailing pdf

PrintBoss cannot automatically print a document created outside of PrintBoss, but the Terms and Conditions can be added as a copy on the PrintBoss Form. The format needs to be a jpg or bmp file and can be embedded in the form through the Embedded Files function on the Misc tab of the PrintBoss Form. Once the file is embedded, it can be added to a PrintBoss copy using the #PIC command. All other formatting needs to be conditionally excluded from the Terms and Conditions copy and the #PIC command needs to be set to only print for the selected copy.

Since there are a few details to consider in setting this up, we recommend calling our technical support group for assistance. We do not currently have a document for this procedure on our web site and there are too many steps to record in this response.

The check number for HRMS is typically on the RunTime Objects tab of the PrintBoss Form CA_UP3 or CA_UP4 and uses the variable {CChkNo}. Replace this with {BChkNo} to use the value from the PrintBoss Bank Record.

Outlook only uses a Profile assigned for the user within Outlook and ignores all other attempts to change these settings through MAPI.
The user must have a Profile (account) for the desired EmailFromAddress and EmailFromName.
Once the Profile is created, it can be selected on the PrintBoss E-mail Settings SMTP/Mail Hosts tab.

This is the first reported issue with any printer, PrintBoss, and Windows 8. I suggest updating the printer driver from HP's web site to verify it is up to date. We have other clients who use the HP Laserjet P2035 with no issues.

Let me know if the offset persists after the driver update. We may be able to adjust for the offset.

There are 2 ways to adjust the offset:

1. There is an 'X, Y Text Offset' option on the Settings tab of every PrintBoss form. This moves all the raw text received from the accounting system.

2. There is a Non-MICR Offset Adjustment tool under Options/Configuration/Settings. This is a global move and affects all PrintBoss forms. The measurements are in thousandths so you will need to enter large numbers to see movement of the text.

The only way to correct the MICR is to run the MICR Offset Adjustment found at the same location as Step 2 above.

Feel free to call our support line if you would like assistance.
