#If/#Else/#EndIf issue

Also, I just noticed you are using ‘emailbodyfile’. This is not defined within PrintBoss and will not work. You needs to use a #Assigns EmaiBody section for each condition.

#If/#Else/#EndIf issue

Thank you for the reference, Joey. I did not recall that variable exists as we always use EmailBody. I retested and discovered the variable does not provide results in the Form, only when emailing. The original code I provided does work. I tested it with {DocAmnt}, {DocMisc} and {AMT4} and they all worked during the email process with the original syntax I provided. Another copy is below:

#If «[>, '{AMT4}', '0']»
#Assign EmailBodyFile, ÷C:\Users\Paula\Desktop\Test\Verylate.txt÷
#Else
#Assign EmailBodyFile, ÷C:\Users\Paula\Desktop\Test\Current.txt÷
#Endif

I created text files on my desktop for testing, but any valid path will work.

GP 2013R2 Web Client

paula

PrintBoss does work with the web client, but the testing we did showed it to be very slow. The web client resides on a local server and works just like the desktop version of GP. The databases are hosted and pulled down when accessed. It seems the data downloads quickly, then slows down once it hits the server. Perhaps this was an environmental issue, but we were surprised by the slowness compared printing from GP installed directly on a server.

There is nothing new or different in the setup or working with PrintBoss. Installation instructions for PrintBoss and Microsoft Dynamics GP can be found here.

Are the employees being prompted for a password? There could be an issue with the Adobe update. Can they open other PDF files?

Printing Issues in QB and Sage 50 Accounting

paula

Chris - Both Sage 50 and QB need to use the PrintBoss 50 driver to print through PrintBoss. The HP Laserjet should be set in PrintBoss under File/Printer Setup.

Just as an FYI, we recommend using PCL5e, PCL6, or the universal printer driver for the printer beginning with Windows 7. You may need to verify the printer driver you are using is compatible with Windows 7.

PrintDriver "HP LaserJet Universal PCL 6e"

paula

We have HP printers in our Wellspring Software offices and use both PCL6 and Universal printer drivers to access specific trays through PrintBoss. The version of the driver must match the operating system in order for PrintBoss to be able to load the printer trays.

PrintBoss is compatible with HP PCL5e and PCL6 printer drivers as well as the Universal Printer drivers for HP Laserjet printers. We have not seen nor tested a PCL6e driver for HP.

Starting PB32 as administrator

Peter - Any Windows application can be set to run as administrator. Right click on the application and choose 'Properties'. Then select the Compatibility tab. You will see a checkbox (generally under 'Settings') to 'run this program as an administrator'.

The PrintBoss PB32.3exe is at the root of the PrintBoss folder. This is where you will need to change the setting.

Actually, the PrintBoss Bank Code can be extended to up to 60 characters. This feature is under Options/Configurations on the Internal tab. The button is in the bottom right corner and it is labeled 'Change BankCode Length'.

Error message for Access Violation

paula
Administrator
The top three causes for a general access violation follows:

1. Virus - Run antivirus software.
2. Corrupted File - Remove the file or reinstall OS.
3. Corrupted Registry - Use a DLL Error Repair Tool.

Since the error is happening on the PrintBoss executable, you may also want to try the following:

1. Verify the location of the PrintBoss Configuration Settings:
a. Open the PrintBoss Master Application (PB32.exe).
b. Click on the Options menu and choose PrintBoss Driver Settings.
c. Verify 'Configuration settings Save Location' is set to 'Local Registry & User Registry (Standard)'. Continue to Step 2 if this is a match.

2. Verify the user has sufficient permissions to the Registry. You may need to update PrintBoss as the Permissions Analyzer feature was added to PrintBoss 5.71.0.
a. Return to the PrintBoss Master Application screen.
b. Hold down the Shift+Ctrl+P keys to open the Permission Analyzer.
c. The permissions for the Current User (CU) registry should be all capital letters.
d. The user only needs Read (capital R) permissions to the Local Machine (LM) registry once PrntBoss is installed.
e. Continue to Step 3 if 'c' and 'd' above are a match.

3. Rename the Current User and Local Machine registry settings used by PrintBoss and allow new settings to be created the next time PrintBoss is opened.
a. Close PrintBoss.
b. Run or open regedit.
c. Navigate to Current User\Software\Wellspring Software and rename the Wellspring Software folder by adding something on the end.
d. Navigate to Local Machine\Software.
i. If this is a 64-bit computer, select Wow6432Node\Wellspring Software and rename the Wellspring Software folder by adding something on the end.
ii. If this is not a 64-bit computer, select the Wellspring Software folder and rename the Wellspring Software folder by adding something on the end.
e. Reprint to PrintBoss and let us know the results.

Print Only a Signature on Checks

paula

Thank you for your post. The Select edition of PrintBoss does not use Blank01. It only uses the Forms that begin with QB or Unknown. NOTE: Unknown does not print. The Form names must exactly match those that are already in the Forms list and that are used with either the US or Canadian versions of QuickBooks.

Locking the Form/Bank Requst List

PrintBoss Security is accessed under Options/Security. The default Master Password is ADMIN and should be changed after you login. The password is case sensitive. All features are selected on the Basic User Rights tab. Remove access to features all users should not access, such as Options / Form/Bank Request. Access can be granted to specific users on the Advanced User Rights tab or by logging into PrintBoss as the Administrator with the Master Password under the File menu.

Print Only a Signature on Checks

Yes, but it must be the Form that is called automatically when printing from QuickBooks. You would need to comment all script lines on the Footer and RunTime Objects tabs except the signature commands. Use a pipe symbol | at the beginning of the line to comment the line.

We DO NOT recommend this method as it can be difficult if you are not comfortable working with code.

Unwanted Duplex printing

paula

Until the next version is released, PrintBoss holds on to the printer settings if the printer was at one time set to Duplex. The solution is to open Options/Configuration and select the Internal tab. Remove the checkbox for ‘Save Printer Settings’ in the top right corner and click OK, then close PrintBoss. This will clear the settings. They can go back and res-select ‘Save Printer Settings’ if they need to set printer trays.

Steve could you message your company name and contact info, or call tech support? We'd like to assist, but not sure how you are using {LastPageDocNo}. We need more information.

Text Input File Specs

I can shed some more light on this as I realized I had an issue with this recently.
PrintBoss can compare the first column or the first few characters of a string to the variable {LastPageDocNo}. When the first value is not equal to {LastPageDocNo} and the condition is added to the ‘New-Page Macro’ in the Settings tab of the Text Input File, PrintBoss will generate a new page. I know this works as I set it up 2 months ago for a demo. The following is the macro I entered:

"{LineVal:1,5}"<>"{LastPageDocNo}"

{LastPageDocNo} only works on the beginning text for the row.

At this time, we do not have a variable that allows a single user to swap between the Never pause and Always pause option. However, each user can select the Pause setting by changing the 'Saved...' setting bar at the top of the page. Select 'Save as defined in Common Settings file', then click on the 'Change Save Section in the Common Settings File'. Select Windows User Name for those who need 'Always' Pause and select Common Users for those who need to 'Never' pause. The users may need to select either Always or Never under the 'Automatic E-mail Pause' drop down menu after the 'Save Settings' change is made.

To clarify a couple of things:
  • The PDF reader can be Adobe XI or Foxit Reader. Using Adobe DC, it may not work consistently.
  • Firefox can be used instead of Chrome. The process is the same, you download the check document to Adobe and then print.

MAPI issues with Office 2013 and 2016

paula

There are no known issues with Office 2010.
Both the 2013 and 2016 versions of Outlook have MAPI issues. We have not experienced MAPI issues with any of the other versions.
There is a known issue with MAPI and Windows 10. I reached out to Microsoft about this issue and they suggested using Office 365. The return message indicated MAPI is old technology and they do not plan to update this API. The issue I have with MAPI on Windows 10 is it only ends one email at a time. I cannot send a batch. As a result, we migrated to Office 365 and it works great. I can see all my Sent emails in the desktop version.
Best Regards,
Paula Manker

On the Form Editor, Special Controls tab 'Preprocess' should be set to Special, and on the Settings tab 'Copies' should be set to Copies instead of Document. I suspect the latter is the issue.
